Calare Civil is looking for a Structural Engineer to join our growing consulting engineering and building design team.

We are seeking a Structural Engineer with a minimum of 3 years’ experience who is enthusiastic, motivated and looking to develop their career within a supportive consulting environment.

Young and enthusiastic engineers are encouraged to apply. We are interested in candidates who have a strong interest in structural engineering and are keen to broaden their experience across a range of projects.

About the Role

This is a permanent position within our consulting engineering and building design team, with the flexibility to work from either our Bathurst or Lithgow office.

Hybrid working arrangements are also available for the right candidate.

The role will involve structural design, assessment and reporting across a variety of residential, commercial and industrial projects, as well as forensic assessment and evaluation of existing structures.

About You

The successful candidate will have:

• A minimum of 3 years’ experience in structural engineering.

• Competency in structural steel and timber design.

• Familiarity with AS 2870 – Residential slabs and footings and its application to residential structures.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• The ability to work both independently and as part of a consulting engineering team.

• A practical approach to engineering and problem solving.

• A willingness to take on a variety of projects and continue developing your technical skills.

Technical Experience

Candidates progressing to interview will be expected to demonstrate significant competency in structural design, including experience with:

• Residential structural design.

• Commercial structural design.

• Industrial structural design.

• Structural steel and timber design.

• Assessment of existing structures.

• Forensic evaluation of residential and commercial structures.

• Preparation of clear and technically sound engineering reports.

We are looking for someone who can demonstrate practical engineering judgement, not just theoretical knowledge, and who is confident taking responsibility for their designs and technical work.
